Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick and transfer to Nyungwe forest
Upon arrival, our company representative will be waiting for you at the Airport, he will greet you, take you through the itinerary and then transfer you to Nyungwe national park which is located in the southwestern province. You will drive through rolling hills of Rwanda and am sure you will understand why it is called the land of a thousand hills, expect some stopovers for scenic viewing and pictures of course to warm up your mood.
Arrive in the park in time for lunch, proceed to your lodge to check in, have lunch and relax as you wait for chimpanzee trekking tour the next day.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk adventure
Arise in the morning, grab a hefty breakfast, get your trekking gears and be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee tracking. Expect to be with a ranger guide who will help you to locate the assigned chimpanzee family, spend an hour in the presence of chimpanzees as you closely see how they feed their young ones.
Your camera will be on duty as you steal magical moments with these primates, later, return to the lodge to freshen up, have lunch and in the evening, you will engage in canopy walk where you will be competing with tree canopies height-wise. Spot different birds, baboons and monkeys as they cruise in the tree brunches. After your long day engagement, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Check out and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Another day for you to travel for about 4hours, where you will check out after a delicious breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to volcanoes national park in the northwestern part of the country. You will arrive in time for lunch, and the first thing is to check in, have lunch and relax from travel. Dinner and overnight will be in Volcanoes National Park.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Ibyiwacu community tour
Arise in the morning, greet your tummy with a yummy breakfast, meet your driver guide and be transferred to the park headquarters to be educated about gorilla trekking etiquettes. Head to the thick forests with a ranger guide to lead you to the gorilla family that you will be assigned and be ready to spend an hour in the presence of these gentle giants.
After gorilla tracking, return to the lodge for a hot lunch, and in the evening visit Ibyiwacu cultural village. There is a lot of entertainment, souvenir shopping where you can buy some souvenirs in case you want and then retire to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Check out and transfer to Akagera National Park
Another day for you to traverse Rwanda from west to east is here. Arise in the morning at leisure for a delicious breakfast, check out of volcanoes national park and then be transferred to Akagera national park which is located in the eastern province of Rwanda. Drive for about 5 hours, arrive in the afternoon, check in, have lunch and dinner.
Day 6: Game drive and Boat cruise
Arise in the early morning for a game drive with higher chances to meet leopards, lions, buffaloes, rhinos and elephants and here you will have completed Africa’s big 5 list. This park is endowed with other animals for example giraffes, zebras, rhinos, birds among other wildlife.
After this amazing activity, you will return to the lodge for lunch, relaxation and in the evening head out for boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Expect to see birds, hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and elephants will be fringing the shores. After this long day, retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Check out and departure
After a mouthwatering breakfast, check out at your convenience, meet your driver guide who will transfer you back to Kigali. You will enjoy a hot lunch, and if time allows, you will do a city tour and this will depend on your flight time.
