Overview

Embark on this amazing safari to visit Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya while exploring the wildlife and culture of East Africa. Take part in game drives, Hot air ballooning tours, boat cruises, Community Tours, chimpanzee trekking and trekking gorillas twice. Spending a good time with our close relatives chimpanzees and gorillas creates great memories, visiting Masai mara in Kenya gives us a chance to witness the annual wildebeest migration. The safari will begin from Kigali Rwanda, through Uganda and it will end in Nairobi Kenya.

Detailed Itinerary

Day1. Kigali to Akagera National Park

The driver guide assigned to you will pick you up from the agreed point and this will be the beginning of this great safari. Immediately head to Akagera National Park which is located at the border of Tanzania. The park gets its name from the Akagera River that runs on the border. This park is home to various wildlife including the African Big Five animals. Arrive and head to the lodge and this will be the end of the day.

Day2.  Hot air ballooning and game drives

Take part in a hot air ballooning early in the morning to enjoy the beautiful landscape with an eagle-eye view. During this time, spot different animals like lions, elephants l, buffalos, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and many more others. There will be a glass of champagne or juice at the end of the experience.

The crew on board will help you all the 2 to 3 hours in the air and this will be a great memory. In the evening, take a game drive in the savannah plains to enjoy more of the wildlife in the endless scenery. In the evening, head to the lodge for your last night in this great safari.

Day3. Head to Volcanoes National Park through the twin lakes (Burera and Ruhondo)

The driver guide will take you to Volcanoes National Park a journey that passes through the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera. Here, have a stopover at this time where you will take part in a canoe ride to enjoy the beautiful landscape. Proceed to Volcanoes National Park home to the rare endangered mountain gorillas and the golden monkeys. Arrive and head to the lodge.

Day4. Gorilla trekking and Ibyiwachu cultural village

Take part in the morning gorilla trekking adventure which begins with a briefing led by the park ranger guide. This will be a great time to learn about the rules and regulations such as not using a flashlight camera, keeping a distance of about 8m from the gorillas, don’t eat, drinking or smoking in front of the gorillas and more.

Trekking will take about 8 hours in the jungle including an hour with these beautiful creatures. After lunch, take part in visiting the Ibyiwachu cultural village where you get to learn about the Rwandese culture through the conservation of wildlife. This will be inclusive of the traditional music and dances, storytelling and more. Head back to the lodge for your dinner after the experience.

Day5. Cross to Uganda in Bwindi National Park

Leave Volcanoes National Park and cross to Uganda the pearl of Africa through the Katuna border as you find a way to Bwindi National Park. The journey through the land of a thousand hills-Rwanda to this park is amazing as the guide driver will help you to acquire all the required documents at the border post. Arrive and head to the lodge straight away for your leisure dinner.

Day6. Gorilla trekking and head Queen Elizabeth National Park

Like in Volcanoes National Park, head for another gorilla trekking in this park which will differ in terms of terrain. The experience will not last for over 6 hours but very rewarding since you you will encounter different attractions including vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys and many more. An hour will be spent with a face-to-face interaction with the gorillas and this will create everlasting memories.

After the experience, head to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing through the Ishasha sector to get a chance to spot the rare tree-climbing lions. The park is home to diverse wildlife including elephants, Uganda kobs, warthogs, buffalos, hippos, crocodiles, and different birds including migratory birds. Head to the lodge and this will be the end of the day.

Day7. Game drives and boat cruise

The game drive will begin immediately after waking up and it will take you to Kasenyi plains where there is a lot to spot including lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, warthogs, bushbucks, topi, Uganda kobs, hyenas and more. The game drive normally takes about 3 hours which will be followed by a break at the lodge and lunch. Afternoon, take a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel a 45km stretch between Lake George and Lake Edward. Here, spot crocodiles, hippos, buffalos, elephants and many more others. Head back to the lodge with an en-route game drive for your dinner.

Day8. Head to Kibale National Park and visit the Isunga Cultural Community Association

Have a morning breakfast at leisure and then head to Kibale National Park a home of 13 primates together with other large and small mammals and birds. The journey will be through Crater lakes including the twin Lake of Kifuruka and Lake Nyinambuga. Arrive and visit the Isunga Cultural Community Association to take part in any of your choice activities like community walks, Isunga homemade coffee experience, tea plantations tours, Crater lakes tours and many more. Head to the lodge booked for your dinner and Night stay.

Day9. Chimpanzee tracking and optional activity

Wake up excited to meet our close relatives that is the chimpanzee. Take breakfast which will be followed by a drive to the park offices to attend the briefing exercise. This will create everlasting memories since you be told about the rules and regulations such as not using the flashlight camera, always keeping a distance, not mimicking, not feeding wild animals and many more others.

The search will begin with the help of the park ranger guide and escorts in the forest while spotting other attractions like the blue Turacos, black and white cusquade hornbill, vervet monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys and many more others. Meet the community of chimps and spend an hour following them while jumping from one tree to another. After the experience, be rewarded with a certificate followed by an optional activity after lunch and this can be Bigodi Swamp Walk or visiting Amabere Ga’Nyinamwiru caves.

Day10. Head to Kampala and fly to Nairobi, transfer to a hotel

The driver guide will take you to the central part of Uganda which is Kampala after a leisurely breakfast a journey that can last for about 6 hours drive. The journey is through tea estates, forests, roadside markets and more

Lunch en route will be served and on arrival at the airport, board a scheduled flight to Nairobi Kenya. Meet and greet the tour representative who will give you a briefing about the destinations to visit during your stay in Kenya. Make a transfer to the hotel booked for your accommodations.

Day11. Drive to Amboseli National Park and game drive

Have breakfast and this will be followed by a drive to Amboseli National Park home to large herds of buffalos and a great view of Mt Kilimanjaro in the background. Arrive and enjoy lunch which will be followed by a game drive in the park where you expect to meet animals like crocodiles, cheetahs, gazelles, hyenas, giraffes, wildebeest greater, kudu and more. This will create everlasting memories in your lifetime.

Day12. Head to Lake Nakuru National Park

Have a morning game drive which will be followed by a transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park home to large numbers of flamingoes. The park is known as “A beautiful wildlife haven”. On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland. The park gets its name from Lake Nakuru and on arrival, head for a short game drive for about 2 hours with a chance of spotting animals like giraffes, waterbucks, leopards, lions, Buffaloes, rhinos and many others. Head to the lodge for your dinner and this will be the end of the day.

Day13. Head to Maasai Mara National Reserve

Have a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park which will be followed by a transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve home to the African Big Five and the annual wildebeest migration. This reserve is amazing since it comprises the Masai people who are pastoralists that are normally found grazing in the park premises. Arrive and head to the lodge and this will be the end of the day.

Day14. Full day in Masai Mara

Take a full day exploring the beautiful mara as you participate in the game drives to explore animals like lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras, warthogs, antelopes and many more. There is a chance to witness the annual wildebeest Migration. There are other options like a hot air ballooning tour, Masai community experience and many more.

Day15. Head back to Nairobi, departure flight

The day will begin with bush breakfast and then check out from the lodge followed by a transfer back to Nairobi. Here, wait for a scheduled flight back home and this will mark the end of the Safari.
